Grant Charpentier

Grant Charpentier has been creating art for the last 20 years.  While attending Johnson County Community College he found his passion for creating using his hands, heart, and mind.  When he discovered teaching was his calling he attended Emporia State University in 2004 where he double majored earning a Bachelor of Fine Art with an Emphasis in Glass Forming and a Bachelor of Science in K-12 Art Education.  While attending ESU for art he won several scholarships.  The most significant being 1 of 2 students nationally to win the Fenton Art Glass Collectors of America Scholarship.  During his time in his undergrad he had the opportunity to assist his instructors Roberta Eichenberg and Patrick Martin in addition to visiting guest artists. He graduated in 2010 and started working and renting time from owner/artist Dirk Van Kepple of Rock Cottage Glassworks.  In 2011 he started his own small business Charpentier Glass, LLC in which he still maintains.  During the fall of 2012 he started renting time and being mentored by Rollin Karg in Kechi, KS at Karg Art Glass, Inc. During the summer 2012 and 2013 he helped assist with the Children Inspired Glass Project directed by Carol and Fletcher Russell.   In 2013 he started teaching at Emporia High School.  There he teaches Ceramics, Wheel Throwing, Ceramic Projects, Glass Forming, and Glass Blowing Projects.  Emporia High School is 1 of 8 highschools in the nation to have Glass Forming in the school.   In 2021 he graduated once again from Emporia State University earning a Masters in Education Administration.  Creating glass for the last 17 years, having a young family, and being an art educator has been his utmost passion.  Grant still teaches art at Emporia High School and maintains his own private glass studio.  His glass is featured in galleries in Kansas, Texas, North Carolina, Florida, and soon Arkansas  Within the last year Grant’s glass art has been bought for private collections throughout the United States, into Canada, and now England.
